Microblading FAQ's

1. What is microblading?

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent tattooing. Hair-like strokes are created with a small hand-held blade made up of several needles. The pigment is deposited just below the epidermis, the most shallow part of the dermis with the blade, making extremely fine natural looking hair strokes. A very natural result is achieved, as the hairs are bladed into the skin according to the natural hair growth direction. A touch up is recommended 4-6 weeks after your initial treatment.

2. What is the origin?

Microblading for eyebrows originated in China.

3. How long have you been microblading?

I’ve been microblading professionally since November 2016.  I have 2 years of practice prior to my professional debut.

4. How long does it take?

The microblading session takes approximately 3 hours.  Shaping, numbing and signing of consent forms requires this much time to ensure the best results.

5. What is your cancellation policy?

You are required to cancel 1 week prior to your appointment to avoid losing your deposit.  You may reschedule for a different day up to 2 times.  After the second reschedule, you will be required to leave another deposit.

9. Who can be microbladed?

My clients have never experienced an allergic reaction to the ink I use during microblading, however, allergic reactions may occur. This is why I request every client come in for a consultation 48 hours prior to their microblading appointment. A scratch test is performed behind the ear and near the hairline to ensure there are no adverse affects to the ink.

I provide aftercare for you to take home with you after your procedure. You will wash your brows with a mild soap and apply aftercare every 2 hours for the first 24 hours. After that, you will want to apply aftercare 3-5 times a day for at least 7 days.

And please make sure to avoid ALL of the following:

• Increased sweating, practicing sports, swimming, hot sauna, hot bath or jacuzzi, sun tanning or salon tanning.
• Any laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and/or any creams containing Retin-A or Glycol Acid on the face or neck.
• Picking, peeling or scratching of the micro pigmented area in order to avoid scarring of the area or removal of the pigment.
• Performing tasks related to heavy household cleaning such as garage or basement cleaning where there is a lot of airborne debris.
• Drinking alcohol in excess as it may lead to slow healing of wounds.
• Driving in open air vehicles such as convertibles, boats, bicycles or motorcycles.
• Touching of the eyebrow area except for when rinsing and applying the post-care cream with a cotton swab.
• Before showering apply a layer of post-care cream to protect your eyebrows from moisture. During the shower keep your face away from the shower head. Itching and flaking may appear during the first seven days post microblading procedure, However, experience has shown that by following these aftercare instructions these symptoms may quickly disappear.
• Once completely healed, always apply a layer of sunscreen SPF 30 on your eyebrows when exposed to the sun. Sun exposure might cause the color pigment to fade away more quickly.

16. When should I get a touchup?

Fading usually occurs between 1-3 years, however, touch-ups can be scheduled as early as 8 months. This is dependant on how fresh and defined you would like your brows to look.

Oily, Normal, Dry and Combination are all able to be microbladed, however, certain autoimmune diseases will not hold the ink properly. Especially, if it is localized in the face/brow area. For this reason, someone with an autoimmune disease will require a doctor’s note.

18. How do I receive a Brow Blessing?

Occasionally, The Brow Therapist will hold a contest to microblade someone suffering from Alopecia or a Cancer Survivor at no cost to them. If you would like to enter to receive free microblading from The Brow Therapist, please send an email of your story along with pictures of your brows/face.
